Q: Why should I re-grip my clubs?
A: Grips are made of materials that age and wear over time. Ozone, heat, dirt and oils from your hands cause the natural deterioration and aging of your grips. The traction that a new grip provides lets you hold the club lightly without the fear of losing the club during your swing. A worn grip generally causes you to grasp the club too tight. Your golf professional will tell you that gripping the club too tight will inhibit proper swing mechanics.
A fresh set of grips is an inexpensive and fast way to improve your game with better club performance. It is recommended that you change your grips at least once every year regardless of how much you play. Some tour professionals change grips every week and others will change their grips two or three time before a tournament.
