Augusta National Temporary Studio For several years MitchellŽ Golf has received its annual invitation to the Masters Tournament. Ed Mitchell and Paul Bessler made the trip this year. No, they weren't invited to play, but are the club's choice to provide club performance upgrade repair service to the Masters invitees each year. During the previous 10 years MitchellŽ Golf has brought their tour repair van in for the week, but with plans for a new practice range in 2010 it was decided for the next 3 years to utilize a temporary building. This is the beginning of the process to determine the best design for a permanent structure that will be right on the practice tee used exclusively for the Masters Tournament.

Augusta National Temporary StudioMitchellŽ Golf has been asked by the club to assist in the planning stage for their range studio building, referred to as the Tee House. The conversation is that the building will include a lounge for the players, bag storage for their clubs, range ball cleaning & dispensing and a club repair shop. Keep in mind it will be used only one week of the year, the first week in April.
The new practice facility will replace the only onsite tournament parking lot, which is also where the players' park. Patron parking will move across the street bordering the west side of the current lot where the club has been purchasing land for several years. The players will probably park their Cadillac courtesy cars on the current member's practice range.

Augusta National Temporary StudioThe accompanying photos show how a temporary club performance repair shop was set up with MitchellŽ equipment and workbenches. Ed and Paul operated from this 10' x 20' temporary construction office building and performed all club repair tasks, including re-shafting, re-gripping, loft/lie/face angle adjustments and custom sole grinding on wedges.
